The Smile of a Tear, Grimaldi’s Travelling Circus
In celebration of Child Line’s 25th anniversary, the artist Fee Fee la Fou and myself we spent weeks transforming a life size replica of the Classic Giles Gilbert Scott K6 phone box into the pieces ‘The smile of a tear’, a travelling Circus.
Our phone box was briefly displayed in Trafalgar Square, before being moved to Covent Garden’s East Colonnade Market, where it stayed for the duration of the marketing campaign.
There were 86 phone boxes in total, each customized by reputable artists from a wide cross section of the Arts, including Sir Peter Blake, The Prodigy, David Mach, Giles Deacon, Basso & Brooke, Zandra Rhodes & Julien Macdonald.
The boxes were sold at a VIP auction at The National Portrait Gallery.
